Get yourself a decent DBX or Rane para-EQ, borrow a Real-time analyzer from your local college, and set the thing up right once. Then slap a security cover over the EQ so the settings don't get boogered. Once you have a decent baseline EQ in an average room, the system should sound very clear. Cheers!
