I think it would sound great doing this analog, and it probably means that they have great equipment otherwise. However, it might be pretty pricey to do this analog then transfer to digital for mixing. Tape length is also a problem but since this is a rehersal that will be ok. If the quote is within your budget, they are probably an old school company with good old school mics.
