...I'm not sure, but the specs certainly look more friendly than my current speakers.
I think the high power requirements are related to the fact that SS amps can damage speaker when clipping. With a high power rating, they're safe.
Other inmates experience with Tannoy monitors are overall very good. There's one that pairs a 3.5W Single Ended amp with a Tannoy 15" studio monitor and he loves this combination.
I have just ordered a pair of System 800 at my local pro store tonight. I'll be giving them 25 to 30 class A Push-Pull triode watts (in 8 or 4 ohms), that should suffice.
I'll let you know in two weeks, when I get them, how it works.
