Look at some PZM type mics. Manufacturers like Shure make mikes that are specifically aimed at this type of application. Shure SM91 or AKG C547BL would be an almost perfect solutions. Just tape it too the lecturn. AKG make the C747 which you will see (normally used in pairs) at many major conferences, though these are about £300 each. If undiciplined users are the problem Look at a radio tieclip solution. Sennheiser (a highly respected manufacturer in this field) make some excellent cheap radio kits, perfect for twitchy performers!Good luck
