If you're worried about proximity effect you ought to look at the Electro Voice RE16. It's called a Variable D (An EV patent) that eliminated what you're complaining about. Avoid the Continuous or Single-D mics as their proximity effect is pronounced. The RE 15 would be slightly cheaper bacuse it has no breath blast filter. Nothing cheap is ever good! Peace. James
