Kurt, I've got a Tascam 38 with the dbx units, remote, and punch-in pedal. I found the whole package locally for $500 through the want-ads. Overall I really like the machine but the one drawback is that it uses unbalanced RCA connectors at -10dB operating level. For home and project studio use it is a sturdy and reliable option. However if you need XLR connectors and +4 operating levels you might look for a Tascam 48 or Otari MX5050-8. Take your time and you should find either machine for about the same price. -Mike
