Had one Kurt, used it professionally, held up well, only one reel motor went bad once, easy to use, has a great sound with or without the DBX. The DX-4 dbx units interface with the 38, they are (2) 4 channel units that (daisy loop interconnect) via a special cable. In the 80's section of my homepage you can see the 38, with the dbx's underneath. Look for headwear, the pinch roller should be soft and supple. All channels should play back recommended response with the real tascam YTT series 1/2 inch alignment tape, in repro, and in sync. Test record each channel. Work the transport (shuttle) if it performs and is in good shape, then 1000 is a good price. Is there the remote, very handy.
