I'd keep both on hand, just to confidence your mixes with SS and tube.
In my studio, I keep a little Paul 605- a 6 watt single ended guitar amp hooked up to an old Minimus 7 minispeaker(remember those?) for hearing a 'crappy' mono mix (old mono tape/radios are STILL out there). Everyone wants to hear the mix through that at some point, just to be sure the kid with the crappy radio will still hear the bass guitar or drum part!
On the other hand, I have an Alesis Matika 500 (250 w/pc@4ohms) for the other extreme. They are both indespensible!!!
Sure its a little more work on your part, but isn't that what its all about- the best sounding product for every walk of life?
