it all depends on the budget.
if you are on the cheap (if its just for practice, i would assume so) i'd look into Peavey. they get a lot of bad press about thier sound, but i use an old Peavey pre amp in my large rig (with alesis power amps and 2 SWR 4X10" cabs for the mid/lows and a small tube guitar amp for the top end), and it sounds great. check those out if you just want a good basic tone for low bucks.
if you need something a little more 'better' (read: expensive), i'd look into a used Gallien-Kruger. i have a 400RB as a practice amp with a Peavey 1X15" cab.
or go all out, hand over your wallet and get something like an SWR, EDEN or AMPEG head (big bucks, but big sound and power), but if you just want to practice without killing anyone in the near vicinity (parents, sig. other) get the GK or Peavey!
