The M4 mini is only $599 at Apple, and I see it for even less at MicroCenter. That price has been consistent over the years.
I see the difference in speed between my 2015 i5 iMac and the 2022 M1 MBA that I have in all aspects. The M1 was originally dedicated to my bike trainer but I swapped the two when indoor training season ended last spring and now use the M1 as my main computer with monitor. The "photo lab" is also my bike training setup on the old iMac. It runs the trainer software Zwift in the highest quality animation but it takes a long time to start up and then bring up the "world" you're riding in. Only the animation really matters though so it will suffice for that.
