Oil the little varmint !!

When setting up a USB DAC on the computer the DAC should be on its own dedicated USB bus, not shared with USB noise makers like printers, mice, keyboard, USB disks, etc. Super easy to see and accomplish on Mac. Not sure how it's done on Windows.

Older Mac OS screen shot below but same idea. In System Information -> USB look to see if the DAC is on a dedicated USB bus.
If not, just move the DAC to another USB port, refresh, then have another look. This has been standard practice for many years.
In fact, I believe Ayre explained it way back when for their USB DACs.

I suppose a USB mouse can be that noisy but I have never experienced it in my setup. I have but one USB device plugged into my Mac Mini music server and that would be the USB DAC. The keyboard and mouse are wireless Bluetooth.

IF I'm using the keyboard + mouse with the Mac Mini it's because I have a browser or Roon up on the big TV screen driven by the Mini's HDMI port. Otherwise I'm using an iPad as remote control without the TV ON.
