I'm a very happy camper using a declocked to 800 Mhz RPi3 running an Allo DigiOne. Not Sig, but use a 1A battery power supply. Really don't need more than Cray supercomputer horsepower for playback duty only.
Also have an RPi4 which serves as backup to a Sonore ultraRendu but similarly uses USB output since the 3B issues were addressed.
Unless your DAC doesn't support USB (or that at high rez), I'd first try bypassing the HAT and using what you've already got.
