Thanks all for the comments. I agree that you must start with a clean record. I have a VPI record cleaner.Probably my table, cartridge, and arm would bebefit from expert adjustment. I still find that many LP's I want to archive have crackle and scratches after a careful cleaning.Perhaps I should try Adobe Audition or find the patience to remove the clicks one at a time with my current software.
I also find that I can hear a clear difference between 24/94 and 24/48. At up to a 48K sampling rate I have had excellent results with Magix Audio Cleaning Lab 10, but the problem is that I can't use it at 24/96. I have found the Magix to be the most effective and simplest to use.
