I am not up on the status of commercialization of Thomas's dac. The hum that *some* experienced was due to flawed production (not design) of a batch of the tube buffer's circuit board, which Thomas has replaced at no cost. What is special about this dac is that it is very simple to add a usb-to-i2s interface since it has i2s inputs on the circuit board.
