Putting XP on that well designed hardware is very much the horse before the cart. Unless you just want the ability to run the occasional bit of Windows software on the Mac it would be a complete waste of money buying that hardware to just run XP.
As for whether the Apple hardware is more reliable... Most of the components are the same as in any other PC. Same hard drives, same CPUs, same memory, same video cards. Only the chassis design and motherboard (maybe the PSU) are produced by Apple. The chassis design and layout are wonderful, and the cooling they provide may be superior to many PCs on the market. And better cooling will usually lead to better reliability. But that cooling can easily be equaled or surpassed in a unit you put together yourself.
