Hi Terry,There were times when I was listening through the Fisher 500C and I felt it sounded perfect. Perfect in a vintage way maybe. Perhaps I like the music a little colored But one always wants more.
Between problems with amps and preamps I don’t think that I have lived with any one amp more than three or four months at a time in the two years I’ve had the Abbys.
A smart guy might give Brooklyn-ite Don Garber a call, but I am 90% of the way to a two-armed Teres so I have to keep the budget in mind.
Anyway I think there are enough times when I need a little more power to make the Abbys glow They just respond so well to different forms of amplification, it’s kind of maddening. Add solid state and hear a fuller bottom, add 2a3s and get unbelievable mid range presence.
So, since there’s more to be had from the Abbys - it will probably lead me down the road to further alternatives in topology.
Let us know about the 6v6 will ya’. Wavac or Berning after the TT, some day.
Gregg
