The answer to your question is completely subjective, and not only that, the results would depend upon the relative merits of the two different designs that would be needed to achieve a comparison. Atma-sphere once made an SE OTL (I think), just so Ralph could demo to himself and others that the SE feature did not add much. David Berning also made or makes an SE OTL, the Seigfried model. Most of the best-sounding SE tube types are just not well suited to OTL design, for one thing.
