Thanks Ralph, your help is highly appreciated as usual.
I'll try to follow your instructions step-by-step. I didn't imagine the work had to be done at arm's end rather than just replacing the RCAs with XLRs. Puzzling.

The phono cables coming out the Rega can be reused for XLR termination? Or need replaced with a balanced type?

Now I'll have to figure out a way to put the Rega belly up for the surgery. Thanks again for your support, I'm impatient to hear the phono section of my MP-3.
