Your interest in leaving the MP-1 on all the time is appreciated - it really sounds best when hot - in the case of mine, that would be after 1-1/2 - 2 hours.
Lew's remarks are appropo and you may want to consider the proportion of phono stage tube life you'll enjoy while listening in relation to the cost of your 12AT7s. Cf. Ralph's comment at the link below.
Speaking of 12AT7s, I ran across some late '60s Siemens & Halske ECC81 at tubemonger that are the best I've heard in the MP-1 - and they are as quiet as the stock Chinese tubes. Running a set of six or in combination with Sylvania Gold 6201s or Brimar CV4024s, and Herbie's dampers on two in each channel. I don't know if there is a perfect phonostage tube in the MP-1 for my taste, but the S&H come as close as I can imagine getting. Alas, their price makes a strong case for shut down at the end of the night.

Dr Tyrell: The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long - and you have burned so very, very brightly, Roy.
