I agree with you Lew - I have set mine up like Paul Speltz's P/S schematic posted around here somewhere ...and I like the effect I get with this setup too .
I have CRCRC and still beleive that less is more . If so much capacitance is really necessary , then I cannot see the point in using such a method of DC supply from the mains as being reasonable . For starters ..id have to ask the local power authority to upgrade the pole fuses in the Pillar Box !!
If such DC power is truely needed , then this is when you start to use pre-charged 100 VDC Forklift Battery sets ..LOL
