A few smaller capacitor is better than one larger capacitor or get the capacitor type capable of high ripple current if the that is important. The requirement will vary depend on OTL circuit in the output section. If you hear very little hum while only the output tube are left plug in (if possible), then it's considered very good. Usually NFB will reduce this hum further. Another thing is resultant harmonics interfernce it may introduced into the mains it may be quite high in OTL amp depends on OTL topology. The capacitors I used is 4*1000uF/200V per channel for 25 Watts/8 Ohms or 50Watt/16 Ohms model . I noticed the ripple on my computer screen in the past for a particular circuitary. Now that I haven't seen notice it as the circuit changed but the capacitor remain unchanged.Do you think the harnomics interfernce has any bearing on sound quality?
