Re: Deleting posts

Just because a forum is independent does not mean it is not moderated. Spam has to be deleted and often so are 'trolls'. JerryS's posts were the latter; Jerry was upset because we called him on the carpet several years ago when he reviewed a used kit M-60 as if it was a current factory built model. At that time he changed his review comments on the MP-3 from positive to negative and made up a story about the noise. Several inmates called him on the tactic and he seemed to disappear for a few years. Its my guess that he now thinks people have forgotten.

Jerry sold the MP-3 that allegedly had the noise to a guy here in Minnesota who hand-carried the preamp to us for a checkout. I put the preamp on our system, put on an LP, played it at about 100db and then lifted the tone arm. There was no noise audible; I had the owner put his ear to the drivers of the speaker while I switched the preamp between phono and AUX- he could not hear a difference. The phono cartridge had 0.3mV output; the speakers are 97db 1 watt/1 meter.

That MP-3 is equipped with optional step-up transformers and can easily run cartridges that are less than 0.1mV. The fact was thus revealed to both the new owner and myself that Jerry had made up the noise story. The owner still has the MP-3.
