Al, I don't really mean to sound like a curmudgeon, but you said, "Speakers with very high efficiency allow Atma-Sphere amps to rock with the best of the solid-state designs, but will lack the resolution to bring out the clarity." It's the last part of the sentence that has me boggled. Can you explain why high efficiency speakers might lack resolution? To my ears and from my understanding of the physics (probably not as complete as yours), high efficiency speakers are and ought to be especially GOOD at resolving low level signals. And if I may add here, this is one of my long-standing gripes about Magnepans (at least until they started to use a ribbon tweeter). Magnepans sound "over-damped" to me, such that they fail to reproduce the decay of instruments and other nuances that distinguish "live" from reproduced music. I always associated this property of Magnepans with their inefficiency and also with their physical construction; the mylar is mass loaded by the wiring glued to it which tends to make it stop vibrating prematurely.
