I was told (I think by Bryan Carey, who by doing so was criticizing his own associate) that Tom Gambill was selling the Sans Pareils for quite a while at less than parts cost...Component quality was OK, but soldering was so-so. Not surprising about driving stuff out of spec. Layout of the Triode was a nightmare - a big resistor with a low level cap right up next to it blew, with nasty results. Thermal and mechanical design were poor as well - the chassis, if you want to call it that, could flex a little if you lifted the unit in the wrong place with the top cover removed. The fan was quiet, though.
