The Sans Pareil amp was no better and may have been worse. We got two in for repair, experimentally, to see if we would be able to rescue the owners of Fourier stuff from oblivian... the Binda caps were failing - no surprise- it turned out that the parts were being operated 40 volts *beyond* their maximum rating! They had a tendancy to blow themselves off the power supply board as a result. Not encouraging behaviour! Being pentode based, the amp was quite complex and suffered issues related to component quality, soldering and board quality. We wondered how they were able to build the amplifier so inexpensively and the answer turned out to not be very pretty.
