I am using a Placette volume control with a pair of M60 MkII.2s and I am very pleased. A while back a friend brought over a nice expensive tube preamp and this gave me better bass, but was less transparent. If I could afford a $5K preamp I would go for it. At $1.3K for the Placette (I had balance control added), I am very satisfied. The Creek was too grainy for me. I have a pair of the Ultimate Attenuators and they also sound good, but limited # of steps and no remote make it hard to live with.
