You're quite right about the Russian 6AS7Gs. Any other type (US manufacture) will not be reliable in Atma-Sphere amps.Like you say, there are a lot of good NOS 6SN7s still out there. The Sovtek 6SN7s are very poor. The Chinese 6SN7s sound surprisingly good. Still, a good US made 6SN7, avoiding the so called "coin base" versions are the way to go.
