Re: SLCF questions for Paul

Roy,

98 volts across 27.4k is 0.35 watts, so the 0.33 watts rating seems a bit shy. Unless of course they are HUGELY under rated. Actually the 7.2 mA I run in my All Tube SLCF may still be a bit more than necessary, and 5mA may be all that is needed. Then just set up 69 volts across the paralleled 27.4k resistors, and each will dissipate only 0.17 watts.

I have not tried the "365k resistor to the plate" circuit, but I sure like having fast blow fuses in the output section. They are insurance for anything that I might screw up. I also like the idea of blowing a replaceable fuse. The 6AS7 and 6336 fused cathode lead are not replaceable, and I have blown them when I ran 5A (to large) fast blow fuses. Stick with 2ea, 2 amp fast blow for a M-60, one in each half of the circlotron. Install between the 1 ohm plate resistors, and the power supply (+) cap. You might need 3 amp fast blow of driving a 4 ohm speaker.

Modifications (a) and (b) will probably be less beneficial with the CVS in place, but you may hear some gains...you will never know unless you try it.
