Re: Balanced

Try to find an old Mark Levinson 36S. It's a fully
balanced design and you'll notice the difference.
Assuming you'll be using a balanced digital input,
the S/PDIF signal is locked, decoded and then the
clock is filtered by a high precision VCXO and the
data is passed through a buffer. The clock is then
distributed in a balanced/differential signal to the
two DACs. Each DAC board has two DACs matched to give
a near perfect balanced conversion and the analog
signal is then filtered and buffered by a balanced
stage. This architecture also applies to the ML 360
and 360S. The 36S already has all the fashionable
tweaking like soft recovery diodes and Os-Con caps
and you can upgrade it to the 360S by less than half
the cost of the 360S... AFAIK, the 360S already has
the software to decode 192KHz ans DSD streams. The
new processors are completely implemented in software
(FPGA + DSP). You should be able to find a 36S in the
range of 2000..2500 USD... If it's to much money
then go for a convencional player with balanced
outputs...
