Thanks to one and all for the ideas and recommendations. One of the reasons I am investigating a balanced cd player is because of what I read in the MP-3 manual: "the INVERT switch will not function in one position if a single-ended input is used". It seems to me that for this switch to actually invert phase, you would need a fully balanced input, not a pseudo-balanced (to use Victor Komenko's words) one. Hell, I already have adaptors for my single-ended cd player now, what's the difference? I get the impression that fully balanced cd players are very expensive..Mark Levinson (not the man), Wadia, etc.
Folks, am I right about only being able to invert phase with a fully balanced cd player? TIA.
