George,The output section of the A-S OTL will throw off even a veteran oscilloscope user. The output section is made up of two FLOATING power supplies. Connecting your probe across the output "grounds" one half of the circlotron and screws it up. The proper way to directly view the output is to use two probes (both referenced to signal ground), one on (+), one on (-), and have the scope "sum" the signals. The noise you see will then go away.
