The JE 100 MK III is a very good preamp. I've heard it on several occasions. But, it is still not the equal of an Atma-Sphere preamp IMHO. The JE is a single-ended design and it's sonics are mostly governed by, and I hope I remember this correctly, it's 5751 and it's topology, which I believe was mu follower. The 6SN7 differential pair with CCS, used by Atma-Sphere is sonically superior. In fact, IMHO, the 6SN7 is about as good as it gets for line-stage sonics. It exhibits less noise so the music enjoys a quieter background. The Atma-Sphere preamp also uses a 6SN7 based circlotron output buffer, which allows it to drive just about anything, without a coupling capacitor. I won't go off into a discussion of why no coupling capacitor is superior. I'm sure you already know this well.
