Dear Travis,
The DCI 4 (now known as the Wing) has a thinner membrane, long throw element (increased low frequency response and dynamics), direct coupled interface (which means cross-overless). The newer Wing version also has impedance-matching circuit and auto-cut-off circuit(without signal the membrane won't charge up to avoid dust attraction), these circuits nearly double the price but I don't like them since I like simplicity and dislike coloration. All ESL made by Audiostatic are supposed to possess panels of same dimensions so you can upgrade the ES-500 with the latest panel.
For further enquires please contact Michael from Germany, the internet address follows: http://www.audiostatic.com.
Hope this answers your question.
Allan.
