Great reference. I found another recommendation tonight in Phonogram from a contributor that I'll pass along. The contributor makes the same point about getting back a DIFFERENT cartrdge from some re-building services. The original post can be found in digest, V5, #225 at the website below:"As some of you have mentioned Cartridge retipping, I'd like to point out I obtained excellent results from retipping my two Koetsu Urushi's from Expert Stylus in the U.K. Both cartridges were damaged and rebuilt from scratch using a boron cantilever and the same basic stylus shape (slightly different radius, which Expert claims reduces record wear). Sounded EXACTLY like my original Urushis, except for perhaps a shade more detail. They retip and rebuild to order either using the exact OEM specs on cartridges or they can do other stuff as well (sapphire or aluminum cantilevers, for example). I have two points about these guys: 1) They do incredible high quality work and their fees are embarassingly low; 2) Although some of these other cartridge retipping services do good work, if a different stylus or cantilever is used vs. the original you will end up with a DIFFERENT cartridge (e.g., van den Hul). I should point out that Expert was used by Koetsu owners to retip Koetsus when the Koetsu company was not around for a few years a while back.
