Of course, the best way to drive an AS amp is with an MP-1 or MP-3 balanced preamp :) .... or, another very high quality balanced preamp, but what about single-ended preamps? I see that AS amps have RCA as well as XLR inputs, but what are the sonic differences using balanced versus unbalanced preamps to drive the AS ?I know it is nearly impossible to do an "all other things being equal" kind of analysis here, but have lots of people gotten great results using single-ended preamps? Or is it DEFINITELY a better idea to stick with balanced pre's only?
I see some very interesting tube preamps out there, many of which are single ended, so that's why I'm wondering.
