biasing glitch

OTL, Output Transformerless Amplifier User Group.

All of a sudden one of my speakers developed quite an audible hum and also some "spritzy" kind of noises. When doing the bias procedure, the following happens: I put the postive speaker cable on the bias terminal, switch on the left warmup switch and as soon as I switch on to full power the bias dial immediately moves to show the bias reading - before I depress the bias switch (which has no effect). Any ideas of the problem - loose wires, bad tubes ??? Thanks for your help.
