Other than the Mullard CV-181 (lucky Mark) and the impossible to find Tung-Sol round plates, I think I've heard them all in the M60s. My highly subjective ranking of the best tubes in the M60s are:Sylvania VT-231
Sylvania 6SN7W metal base, tall bottle
Hytron 5692 brown base
Raytheon VT-231Others are good too, but these were the best. Avoid the JAN Philips at all costs, a (very) marginal improvement on the Sovteks, at best. If your system is all digital, and/or if your system tends to the leanish or brightish side, you can do worse than the Mullard CV1988s or RCA 5692s. Just don't overpay for the latter.
RCA and GE GTAs and GTBs are not worth the effort. You can get Sylvania WGTs or even W short bottles (black base) for about the same $$ and are sonically superior.
And yes, not surprisingly, these opinions do not totally carry over to my new amp, which also uses 6SN7s. The best choices are equipment and system-dependent.
