When I was considering an OTL amp I asked former owners of OTLs what they went to next. Most went to SET. Just recently I've noted at least three different people that have moved on too. When I bought my M60s I suspected I might go there one day too. When I first got my M60s, and to this day, I think they do music like no other amps I've heard before and I love them. And that impression has real staying power - to this day I still love them. Which is saying something considering how quickly I went through gear in the past. There is one thing that doesn't sit well with me when people equate OTLs to detail. To me, detail can be a bad thing. Doesn't matter if its tube based and smooth.Theres no way you're ever going to reproduce music like it was recorded. No way. The trick to being happy is to realize this, and then to put together a home system that just makes you happy. Period. Detail does not mean musical. In fact, I think detailed systems are not musical. My goal is to reproduce music in my home in such a way that I enjoy music not as it was recorded, but as such that I never tire of it. Listening to music at home is a different experience than live music so get over it, and make the best of it.
I'm still a very happy OTL'er but I'm also open to different types of "MUSICAL" experiences.
