High Efficiency Speaker Asylum

Can a high efficiency speaker similar in design to the Altec 14 be built with currently available components? The classic look of the Altec 14 can be retained along with the high efficiency.

I chose the parts below from partsexpress.com in an effort to piece together a reasonably priced system that may capture the spirit of the Altec 14 without breaking the bank.
