>Now my Oris/AER MD3 speakers beamed bigtime and was definitely a one person wide speaker. I found the effect annoying. The Orpheans in my room with my system are about a three person wide speaker. And outside of that range the sound is still quite balanced with good tone and decent stereo depth.<
I had an AER version of the Lowther PM4A drivers in an Oris 150 horn with a phase plug that widened the focus. So If you had the Oris 250 that might be different, as well as what phase plug you chose.
I suppose it's maybe okay to say the Orphean has some dispersion, and maybe if set up with a certain crossover and a certain spacing you could get 3 people in there fine. But after I got done with them I get optimal response on-axis and it falls off if angled away from there. So we aren't probably comparing apples-to-apples in either case. Tweakheads like myself will create side effects that make others wonder what the heck happened.
So I should offer a disclaimer with my evaluation. Mine was modified to my taste and situation, so your mileage will likely vary.
