After great reviews from several audiophiles I decided to share the modification I made to the BMS 4592ND compression driver. I do not know how to post more than 2 images at a time so I will make 2 consecutive posts. Basically the mod entails filling a cavity in the throat near the voice coil of the midrange created by a relief for the tweeter leadouts.
I do not know why BMS lets this serious flaw continue but is is easy to fix. Pic 1 shows the rear of the driver with the tweeter removed. You can see 2 recesses there. Pic 2 shows the recess in detail with the hole into the compression chamber which created a cavity resonance issue and the nasal response problem.
The fix is to block off or fill the chamber. The tricky part is that the lead out for the tweeter comes within .030" of the midrange chamber, so BMS just blew straight through in the machining instead of leaving a thin wall to separate the mid chamber from the tweeter
