Messin with Gizmos old se308 drivers

Still messing with gizmos old sunlight engineering se308 concentric 18in drivers.After trying a large OB I found this to work ok but bass was MIA. Image was wonderful hifrequincy was a bit weak as gizmo said in his review. I also tried a bass horn but bass sounded uncontroled and tubby and specs suggest a BR design would work so this is what I tried next. In the BR cabinet driver produces a huge soundstage dynamic range is very front horn like so I would say massive.Loudspeaker does need some room about 12ft from front of loudspeakers is where it comes together if one sits to close the mid range dominates a bit.In the big bass reflex design the bass is very detailed but doesnt extend to low so far about 40hz with roll off before this. Lower frequincys to 25hz are present but reduced in level.So Iam building a matching subwoofer. As far as hifrequincy, driver does well but adding a t90aex tweeter realy helped. After trying so much, these drivers are a real pain to work with, you should see all the wounds they left, crushed my finger tips, my back sure feels it.Fun to pull a near 60lb driver out of a routed hole, fasteners had to be huge to hold the wieght, lots of fun driving these in. But listening sure is fun they do connect with you make you want to move or tap your toes tried listening criticaly ended up just jamming out.Pretty cool stuff and it should be things are crazy costly but probly worth it.The detail they produce is amazing I hear things in familar recordings that I never did before when I close my eyes they disapear when I open them theres this huge loudspeaker but sound comes from a sound stage not centered arround cabinets.Neat to have something old gizmo owned I cleaned up his dirt and repaired the damage on cones he probly caused installing these beasts looks to me like fingers might have slipped;) but repairs where easy paper cones and surrounds low excursion driver so no worrys.
