The best vinyl systems and best SACD players are very, very close. In my case, my vinyl system is still boxed up because my modified SACD player beats it pretty handily, and I only have room for one of the two.My SACD player is a modified Sony DVP-S9000es, which is a large step up from your stock Sony XA777.
My vinyl system is a Thorens 125, Shelter 901, Alphason tonearm and Cary tube phono preamp. As you can tell, my vinyl system is no slouch either, but the Cary is not modified so it makes my vinyl system noticibly inferior to my SACD player, even when playing CDs with it.
