I used to use bulk erasers, etc. to demagnetize CDs but got tired of the hassel and the fact that the effect only seems to last about 20 minutes.....lately have tried the Mapleshade Ionoclast (basicially the same as the Zerostat used on records). All I can say is that when I use it I get way more palpable 3d sound.....much more realistic. Not sure how long the effect lasts, but I like it. Naturally, you have to use it each time you play....but it only takes about 5 seconds to use....zap the bottom about 15 times and the top about 10...put the SACD/CD/DAD/DVD-A in and viola, much better sound. Costing less than $40 is nice too. Would never play a disc without zapping it. I also sand and black all discs and use the latest Auric Illuminator....have not tried all the latest fluids but this one works good. You can also zap your cables (please disconnect from components) and your cables will sound much better too...unfortunetly, the effect only lasts a few hours....good for those super Sat. listening sessions.
