The procedure you describe re. channel level setting sounds pretty identical to that accessible on all Denon players and receivers: our more modest gear seems to have one advantage after all!
The Telarc 1812 SACD I think I saw in the local library: will look. Gave up on that work long ago: amazing to think it's by the same composer as the Pathetique Symphony or the operas Mazeppa and Pique Dame. So would be reluctant to buy it!
