I am on the verge of ordering one or more (maybe all 4) of these releases. I am completely ignorant of opera aside from a few arias and preludes. The only full opera I have attended is "Porgy and Bess", that I also own. (I did have the unique experience of attending several hours of a three day Chinese opera in Beijing).Questions: For an opera novice, among these four releases, what is the best one to start with? Which ones, if any, to avoid until more experienced? If any of them are similar, in even a remote way, to Verdi's Requiem, one of my *all time* favorite pieces of music, I will certainly begin there.
