Raises two issues though:1. If the CD-R recording of mikel's vinyl system sounds so good, then Redbook can't be that bad after all :-)
2. Just wondering how much of the "improved sound" is due to euphonic distortion from the medium? I know I'm threading on dangerous ground here, and having listened to mikel's old system in his old home, I know how good his system sounds.
Maybe it boils down to the mastering, as you say. But I'm not so sure the explanation is as simple as that.
