The Stereo outs of the SACD1000 are processed by a low cost DAC and low cost analog stage. These are intended to use with your TV set given it has audio inputs. Unless you've used the front L + R channels from the Multichannel outputs on the top, you have not heard what this unit is capable of.I just heard a highly modded SACD1000 with all Linear PS, precision clock, paralleled DACs and more upgrades at my friend's house in Holland. It was quite stunning. It beat his vinyl rig on A-B test with “Jazz at the Pawn Shopâ€.
Oh, and BTW, the latest FURORE version (xf0018) has been working flawlessly for the last 3 years. Too bad more of these are not available.
SACD1000 was designed with the help of Marantz engineering and it is basically the same inside as the Marantz SA-12S1. The machine has enormous potential and type of magic to it. It was the first Multichannel SACD player ever.
Anyway, it is a sad story about something that was over-engineered and was probably the best available at the time it was introduced.

Alex
