I believe Alex Paychev stated over a year ago that there were no more chips available. My SACD-1000 was one of the last ones he repaired (I believe) and has been flawless ever since.It's trul a shame that Philips didn't support this unit since, other than the obvious problems, it's build like a truck.
But no - I wouldn't pay any significant amount of money for one.
