Regardless if the players and all the discs worked perfectly. Then again, 99.99% of music listeners don't care about higher quality recordings to begin with. Of folks that do, it would be quite interesting to know amongst those who didn't taken a plunge simply because of the fact there are some problems. Obviously what recordings are available to listen to that would interest them would be the most deciding factor. Even so, problems with some players and/or recordings isn't a good thing!BTW, I really haven't had any problems with dedicated CD players I owned throughout my life. I cannot say that for some DVD players or SACD players I've owned over the course of the last few years unfortunately.
My trials and tribulations with the Sony XA777ES hasn't caused me to sell all the hybrid recordings I own. It remains to be seen if the aluminum foil trick works on those recordings I experience drop outs with when they occur. One thing I'm fairly certain with is I'll have trouble again with that player reading CDs or SACDs down the road and I'll have to send it for repairs once again.
